Frog Bioregions Map

Classifying the distribution of frogs is better suited to the geographic and climatic characteristics of the natural landscape, rather than by state boundaries that often cut straight through a frog's 'natural' distribution area.

Australia is divided into fifteen interim bioregions for frogs, based on the similarity of vegetation, soils, climate, geology and landforms in each region. Click on the map to see which frog species live in each bioregion.
